Can this pickle be more obnoxious than someone on the Internet?

So if you are on Facebook, I'm sure you've seen the pages like "Can this pickle get more fans than Taylor Swift?"

This past Friday, I saw a few people on my friends list became fans of the Nickelback one, so I looked at the page and saw it had almost a million fans and tons of current comments (meaning people were actively viewing the page). I thought, "hey, maybe people that hate mainstream rock might be into checking out an up and coming independent band."(foreshadowing - I was VERY wrong! haha)

1st response was funny. Kinda what I figured. The next one was slightly more aggresive...

Wow! hahahaha. That was just the first few...the bashing on me ensued for a few more posts. I've got a thick skin and good sense of humor, so I could care less. You can read the whole post here (just be warned, adult content within) - http://bit.ly/94WQiE

Don't get me wrong, I realize to some extent I did deserve this. As Keenan "Rage" so kindly pointed out (btw - he must be tough with a middle name like "Rage"), I was essentially trying to "wh*re my bullsh*t music." But still - his response was just a TAD overboard. Par for the course on the net though. I love how ridiculous people are when they sit behind the safety of their computer screen. You are a real bad-ass on facebook! lol. I find the best way to handle these dumb internet arguments is just be overly nice and go along with what they are saying. By not getting angry, it pisses them off even more! hahaha.

The best part about this whole thing is that these dopes that ripped on me don't realize these pages are just giant marketing campaigns in disguise. Almost every post by the page admin is something like this:

Oh look - they are trying to sell you something! So basically when you clicked "I'm a fan" you unknowingly signed up to have a t-shirt company "wh*re their bullsh*t products" to you every day via your News Stream. Why doesn't THAT piss them off? Maybe they are flattered by the 15% discount being offered? haha.

Seriously though, the page gained 1.3 million fans in under 2 weeks - this didn't happen just by going "viral." It happened because some marketing company is behind it, paying people to post it anywhere and everywhere (most likely with fake profiles).  Don't believe me? Go ahead and create your own "I bet this pickle can gain more fans than....." group. See if you get over a million fans in 2 weeks. Something tells me you'll fall well short.  Notice how none of them replied after I pointed that out (the one response after me is a friend of mine). hahaha.

Main point here - think twice on tearing me apart for plugging something on a page that is one big ruse in which they are plugging you. You hate Nickelback because it's mainstream SELLOUT rock, but the whole page is designed to try and SELL you something. We (myself included) were all victims of clever marketing. Looks like I'm not the only one who got "owned."
